𝗬𝗢𝗨𝗖𝗔𝗡 𝗢𝗿𝗴𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘀𝗲𝘀 𝗮 𝗠𝗮𝗷𝗼𝗿 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗹𝗶𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗖𝗮𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗽 𝗶𝗻 𝗕𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗹𝗮𝗱𝗲𝘀𝗵

We are proud to share that YOUCAN Global successfully organised the National Capacity Building Workshop on Climate Change Science, Negotiation, Policy and Politics, held on 27–28 September 2025 at The Daily Star Center, Dhaka.

This two-day residential programme was designed and delivered by a coalition of climate-focused organisations, and YOUCAN was one of the core organisers responsible for shaping the workshop content, coordinating youth participation, and supporting session facilitation.
For us, this was not just an event it was a milestone in youth-led climate leadership at the national level.

Why We Organised This Workshop

Bangladesh faces layered climate risks, yet systematic knowledge on climate science, UNFCCC processes, climate finance, COP agendas and political dynamics often remains limited among youth, media professionals and CSOs.
YOUCAN stepped forward to help close this gap by co-organising a workshop that builds climate literacy and negotiation capacity before COP30.

What YOUCAN Contributed as Organisers

1. Programme and Agenda Design
YOUCAN helped structure the workshop to ensure it was strategic, participatory and grounded in Bangladesh’s climate context.

2. Sessions on Climate Literacy & Policy
We contributed to core sessions on:

• Climate science and climate-induced risks

• Economic and non-economic loss & damage

• Human dimensions of climate impacts

• UNFCCC negotiation architecture

• Climate finance systems

• Reflections from COP29 and priorities for COP30

3. Youth Mainstreaming
YOUCAN ensured youth were not passive attendees but central contributors to conversations on climate justice, negotiation literacy and national climate strategy.

4. Multi-stakeholder Collaboration
We worked closely with CPRD, The Climate Watch, Climate Justice Alliance–Bangladesh, CARE Bangladesh and other partners to ensure smooth coordination and strong programme delivery.

5. Residential Facilitation & Participant Support
YOUCAN engaged in participant mobilisation, group exercises, peer learning sessions and interactive dialogues throughout the two days.

Who Participated

The workshop brought together emerging leaders from:

• Youth climate networks

• CSOs and development organisations

• Media and communications

• Academia and research

• Local advocacy groups

It created a space where diverse experiences, scientific understanding and policy knowledge came together.

YOUCAN’s Leadership

Our Founder, Yudhishtir Chandra Biswas, served as one of the organisers responsible for youth engagement and programme coordination.
This is a powerful example of how youth leadership can operate at a national scale — shaping agendas, designing learning pathways and leading real capacity-building work.

Why This Achievement Matters

Organising this workshop demonstrates that youth-led organisations like YOUCAN are not just participating in climate spaces we are building them, organising them and leading them.

It shows that young people in Bangladesh can:

• Strengthen national climate literacy

• Understand and contribute to UNFCCC negotiations

• Navigate climate policy and finance systems

• Influence COP-level advocacy

• Build multi-sector coalitions

This achievement strengthens our commitment to empowering young people on the frontlines of climate change.

What Comes Next

YOUCAN will continue to:

• Deliver climate capacity workshops

• Train youth on negotiations and climate diplomacy

• Support national advocacy ahead of COP30

• Build leadership pathways for young climate actors

• Amplify voices from frontline communities

This workshop is a milestone but also a beginning. Together, we are building a climate-ready generation.
