The Young Climate Action Network (YOUCAN) is incredibly proud to have contributed to the development of the Bangladesh Civil Society Position Paper for COP30. This vital advocacy document was spearheaded by the Center for Participatory Research and Development (CPRD) as part of the broader Climate Justice Alliance – Bangladesh (CJA-B).
Our Focus: Bold, Just, and Inclusive Outcomes
Our engagement was guided by a simple but critical goal: ensuring that the perspectives of youth and children are front and center in Bangladesh’s national calls for bold, just, and inclusive climate outcomes at the 30th Conference of the Parties (COP30).
Through focused consultations and workshops, YOUCAN championed key priorities essential for climate justice. Our advocacy focused heavily on:
- Concrete action on Loss and Damage.
- Scaling up Adaptation and resilience building.
- The delivery of truly Equitable Climate Finance.
- Stronger international cooperation and accountability mechanisms designed to protect the world’s most vulnerable communities.
Bridging the Gap
This paper is more than just a document; it’s a meaningful step forward in bridging grassroots youth voices with national and global climate policy discussions.
A special acknowledgment goes to Yudhishtir Chandra Biswas, who represented YOUCAN and served as a key contributor to this entire process. His dedication was instrumental in integrating youth-led insights directly into the collective civil society advocacy that will inform and shape Bangladesh’s stance when it takes the global stage at COP30.
